Ulysses was a shy tusker who lived just outside of Amboseli NP, sharing his range with many other famous Amboseli elephants. I first saw him in 2018 while looking for Tim. It took him a long time to habituate to the vehicle. In the following years I came across him a few more times and I could watch his tusks grow. His left ear was bent towards the back, and his tusks were spread open and beautifully symmetrical. He was born in 1979 and died in late March of 2022 for natural causes.
