Dida was probably one of the greatest female tuskers in the last century. She lived in the Tsavo ecosystem and died in 2022 of old age, after the big drought of 2022. She was probably in her late fifties. Her tusks were amazingly long and symmetrical, stretching forward and curving at the tip. She was magnificent and majestic. I finally came across her in 2021 and that encounter was one of the main milestones in my “Walk the earth” book project.
