Probably Tsavo’s and Africa’s greatest tusker at the moment, Balguda lives in remote and unexplored areas of the Tsavo ecosystem. He was probably born between 1975 and 1985. His tusks are perfectly symmetrical, overlapping at the tip and reaching the ground. He is sometimes accompanied by askaris. Ever since I started visiting Tsavo in search of its tuskers, Balguda has been my dream, my obsession, until I finally found him and photographed him in 2023.
