NIGHT QUEEN
Laikipia, Kenya. January 2023
I heard the sound of the Guinea fowls’ alarm call from a bushy area below a large rocky outcrop. I headed there and found her lying on a beautiful rock, basking in the fading afternoon sun. Soon after she descended from the rock and laid down in the shade of a bush. I searched for a good angle to photograph her in difficult light condition, and in the only gap where I had a clear view of her with a pleasing smooth background I took this photograph as she looked back over her shoulder.
