OUT OF THE DARKNESS
Laikipia, Kenya. January 2023
My first encounter with the holy grail of wildlife photography, the black leopard, a beautiful Leopardess known as Giza, meaning “darkness” in swahili, had occurred at night. She blended so gracefully in the darkness, she became one with the night around her. In January I was blessed with some glorious encounters with her in the early morning and late afternoon. In this particular image I guessed where she was heading and I positioned ahead on her path where there was a gap in the bushes, hoping she may come out in that point before walking on. She did just as the morning light shone on her dark velvet coat.
