If twenty years ago someone had told me that on the exact day of my fiftieth birthday, August 19th 2025, I would be photographing a wild melanistic Leopard in Kenya, with a 50mm lens, I would have thought they would be completely crazy. Yet, this is exactly what happened with this photograph, featuring queen Giza starting her evening hunt on a trail across the Laikipia region.
