CHEETAH LOOKOUT

Wildlife photography demands enormous amounts of patience, persistence, anticipation, consistency, perseverance. None of these were needed to take this image though. I was just driving by this beautifully shaped rock at sunrise, looking for cats, when suddenly this Cheetah appeared just at its base, from the tall grass. The Cheetah climbed the rock and for a brief moment looked down into the plains from its vantage point. I grabbed the camera, framed and shot just in time before it dropped back down into the grass. The briefest moment, such unexpected perfection.
