Amboseli, 2024
It took me many years to finally find Michael, one of Amboseli’s current greatest tuskers and one of the youngest ones as well. I was about to publish my book on great tuskers, Walk the Earth, in late 2024 and I was accepting the fact that Michael would not feature on the book, when suddenly at the end of September I finally found him one morning, following a herd of females across the plains. The photography was not great the first morning, but the following day the light was warm and soft and he was grazing close to a small family. Some images that I really love came from this encounter, including this one which ended up as a last minute addition to the book.
