Marigold’s family walks across a dry lake in the late afternoon, surrounded by flocks of cattle Egrets. One of my earliest encounters with this extraordinary female whom I have come across countless times through the years. This image is special for me, as it takes me back to those moments alone on the edge of the endless pan, in the silence and the gentle wind, watching the herd walk by me. The feeling of complete immersion in the wild is still with me today.
