LITTLE MALE
Little Male was probably the very first great tusker I spotted in Amboseli NP, back in 2004 on one of my weekend getaways from Nairobi. He appeared from the east and headed to the marshes. He was born in 1968 from the famous “E” family. I met him again in 2011 while he was busy chasing females deep in the marshes. By then, his right tusk had broken down, while the left was very long, reaching to the ground. By the time I saw him again in 2016, also his left tusk had broken down, but he was still impressive and I spent a lot of time with him that year. Unfortunately, in 2017 he was suspected to have killed a farmer outside of the park and the authorities decided to kill him. Such a tragedy.
