WALK THE EARTH

Is it really happening? Is it a dream? Everything is so silent all around that I could very well be sleeping in the dark, dreaming of a time when the earth was an endless wilderness and wildlife roamed free. But I am not sleeping. I am awake. Wide awake. My eyes are open to the most magnificent sight they have ever seen. All around me is an immense expanse of dry cracked soil, its end I cannot see. The land melts into the sky far away on the horizon, the clouds hang over me, I can almost touch them. It’s mid-morning and I am not alone. An orderly line of Elephants is walking slowly and relentlessly alongside me, heading south, following a majestic matriarch with tusks pointing to the sky. It’s the most primordial scene, solemn, timeless, eternal. At the same time it is here and now, I am in it. It’s not a dream.
