LIGHT AND DUST - I

Ever since I started photographing in Africa I have had a fascination for backlighting, dramatic atmospheres, the interplay between light and elements such as dust or mist. I have always been attracted by the places where darkness and light meet. A thin rim of light around a Lion’s mane, the vapor from his breath in the early morning or a puff of backlit dust from an Elephant’s trunk. I believe that it’s in these brief moments and in these particular light conditions that the soul of the animals comes through in all its essence in a photograph. In this collection I pulled together some of my favourite photographs that capture these feelings. Some of them are featured in my first book “Light and Dust”, now sold-out.
